September may not officially be fall yet, but Humphreys County clearly didn’t get the memo.
Okay, okay. Fall doesn’t officially arrive until September 22, but the calendar says September, pumpkins are showing up, and Humphreys County has way too much happening to wait three more weeks.
From motorcycles and countywide treasure hunting to art festivals, live mural painting, farmstand stops and new places to discover, September is a good month to point the car toward Humphreys County.

September 10–13 | Here Come the Hooligans
Things get louder when the Hooligan 100 rolls into Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.
Four days of motorcycles, racing, dirt, camping, vendors and more bring riders and spectators to Hurricane Mills for a weekend that’s a little less pumpkin spice and a little more horsepower.
September 11–12 | Annual Countywide Yard Sale
The Humphreys Countywide Yard Sale is part treasure hunt, part road trip.

September 18–19 | Autumn Blaze Arts Festival
Artists and makers take center stage in Waverly during the Autumn Blaze Arts Festival.
Browse original artwork and handmade goods, check out the 6×6 Art Contest and bring the kids along for free children’s activities. It’s a good excuse to spend some time downtown while you’re here, too.
September 19 | Pumpkins Mean Fall Around Here
While you’re in Hurricane Mills, make a stop at June Bug’s Pumpkin Patch & Farmstand for its Pumpkin Patch Grand Opening.
Pick up pumpkins and seasonal finds, grab a fall photo and add a farmstand detour to your Hurricane Mills trip.
Technically, fall may still be a few days away. The pumpkins don’t care.
September 19 | Something New Is Growing at Poplar Springs
There’s something new to discover in Humphreys County this fall.
Poplar Springs is expanding its property with a new event venue, adding another place to gather, celebrate and experience this side of Tennessee.
Stop by the grand opening Saturday, September 19, from 2–5 p.m. and see what’s new.
September 19–20 | Watch the Walls Change With the Leaves
Some art hangs in a gallery. Some needs an entire concrete wall.
Head to The Walls Art Park for the Fall Paint Jam & Market, where mural and graffiti artists transform blank walls into massive works of art.
Been before? Come back. The Walls are always changing—and this time of year, so are the leaves.

September 23-27 | 🎡 Don’t Forget the Humphreys County Fair!
It wouldn’t be September in Humphreys County without the Humphreys County Fair.
Fair week brings all the classics—livestock, exhibits, competitions, food, rides and plenty of reasons to make another trip to the fairgrounds. Whether you’re coming for the blue ribbons, the midway or something fried on a stick, put the fair on your September calendar.
The calendar finally catches up with us. And then there’s only one logical thing left to do.
October 3 | Historic Downtown Waverly
Chase a Possadillo.
Part possum. Part armadillo. Completely Waverly.
Start Saturday morning with the Possadillo 5K at 8:00 a.m., then head to historic Courthouse Square for local artists and makers, vendors, food trucks, family fun, downtown shopping and the South’s finest kept secret.
Come run it. Come shop it. Come eat. Or just come find out what on earth a Possadillo is.
